2011 Netherware Awards
The ICT Entrepreneurship Course for the year 2010-2011 marked its end with the end-review ceremony. The ceremony witnessed a display of some high business potential ideas in the field of ICT showcased by the various teams. A total of 13 teams participated in this year’s course. Each team was given 10 minutes to pitch their business idea in order to prove their metal to the Board of Supervisors of Netherware, which comprised of stalwarts from diverse business fields. Prof. Dr. Sjaak Brinkkemper presided over the panel of board of supervisors. The pitch was followed by a question-answer round of 10 minutes in which the members of the board of supervisor gave their critical comments and valuable suggestions to all the participating teams in order to make the product more viable and profitable in the current market. The hall was filled to capacity with audience and every team received a generous applause acknowledging the effort put in to give life to their business ideas.
This year’s ICT Entrepreneurship course became more special because Netherware received a generous 20,000 Euro award through the KIC-ICT initiative, to distribute over the top four teams at the end of the ICT-E course. The ranking was decided by the Board of Supervisor based on the end review coupled with the prize money spending plan delivered by the teams. The prize money was awarded among the top four teams (First: €10.000, Second: €5.000, Third and Fourth: €2.500) for further development of the company.
Site2Mobile emerged as the winner with their creative web based online transformation tool that received wide appreciation from both the board of supervisors as the audience. The aim of Site2Mobile is to provide services that can create native mobile applications and mobile web sites from regular websites, feeds and raw data (Xml, Json, Video, etc.). Site2Mobile will give companies the opportunity to rapidly deploy their websites and services for mobile use. The second best team prize was won by Coursenizer, which aims to provide students with a service they can use to easily find courses, course information and course ratings/reviews provided by students who participated in the courses in previous years. The third place prize went to OnderzoekNU, which offers an Online Research Market Place (ORMP) coupled with an Online Survey Management Tool (OSMT), to researchers and participants, thereby making participation in the research easier. Promotico was the fourth place prize winner. Promotico designed a creative and efficient platform for supporting learning processes by keeping track of the progress of learning objectives for both students and instructors. These learning objectives can be supported with for example specific advice for each individual student and a short video containing instructions. Furthermore, business unit CUBB was declared as the best business unit. Apart from the teams prizes, individual prizes were also announced to recognize the individual contribution of employees in the Netherware. Most productive employee prize was won by Ruud Kuipéri for his performance and hard work on the Netherware year-end report. Most promising employee award was awarded to Tommy van der Zande and the most sociable employee award was awarded to Ana Stroe. The end review ceremony concluded with motivational and inspiring speeches from the members of board of supervisors and a thank you speech delivered by Dr. Slinger Jansen followed by drinks and snacks.
